Sami Zayn could stay on NXT for another year

The WWE will be hoping that 2015 is another huge year for NXT, after four successful specials and a number of main roster pushes there are a handful of top NXT superstars and divas who are ready to make the move to the main roster.

One of those names is the current NXT Champion, Sami Zayn. Zayn defeated Adrian Neville at the fourth and final NXT special event in 2014, concluding a great event and a great year for NXT.

NXT has already seen the likes of Bo Dallas, Adam Rose, Paige and The Ascension make the move to the main roster and 2015 should also see a number of NXT stars graduating to the main shows.

However, as popular as Sami Zayn is there are reports suggesting that Sami Zayn could spend another year in NXT.

This report follows the news surrounding Adrian Neville, it was rumoured that he would be leaving NXT to join the main roster under a ‘Mighty Mouse’ gimmick but now it seems the WWE wants Neville to stay on NXT for the year to engage in three feuds before finally leaving.

These are reportedly going to be a three-way feud with Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens and Adrian Neville whilst Neville is also expected to feud with Hideo Itami and then finally Finn Balor.

Even though he is more than ready for the move, it seems as if Zayn will be staying put and could be set to have a lengthy run as the NXT Champion, and will be expected to eclipse the shortest NXT title reign in history which was Seth Rollins and his 133 day reign which was ended by Big E.

There is the small possibility that Zayn could be called up to the main roster whilst still being the NXT Champion but the WWE need to avoid that move and keep Zayn exclusive to NXT until there’s absolutely nothing left for him, he will be a huge attraction on the main roster with his loyal fan base.

F4WOnline have reported that WWE officials wants to create a long feud between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens which would last the majority of 2015. The WWE are looking to capitalise on a number of big-name feuds which took place on the independent scene as they know that is one of the reasons NXT has been so successful in 2014.

One of the biggest feuds the WWE will be taking advantage of is Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens; which was kicked off at NXT Takeover: R Evolution. That was the night Kevin Owens made his highly anticipated debut in NXT with a victory over CJ Parker and played a part in Sami Zayn’s title celebrations after he finally defeated Adrian Neville.

But the celebrations were cut short when Kevin Owens turned on his so-called friend and stole the headline.

It’s likely that the WWE will mention the history between the two men, after finding success in Ring of Honor where they feuded and were even the Tag Team Champions as Kevin Steen and El Generico, so the feud itself will surely be one the fans will definitely be in to.

The fact that this feud is expected to be a long feud, there’s a chance that Zayn could defend his NXT Championship against Kevin Owens at the very first NXT special event of 2015 – and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Kevin Owens walk out with the strap and Adrian Neville could also play a part in the match.
