It seems that the speculation regarding Rey Mysterio's WWE future, may be about to come to an abrupt end, according to reports.
According to The Inquisitor, the Master of the 619 looks like he is set to retire from WWE in the near future after the storyline for his final run in WWE was dropped.
The former World Champion was set to have an on-going feud from Survivor Series back in November up until Wrestlemania 31 where he would finally bow out. But this was dropped at the eleventh hour and now it looks like Rey is set to leave WWE without a final stint.
The Rey Mysterio saga has played a big role in WWE news throughout 2014 following his injury after Wrestlemania 30, but it seems it is still yet to be wrapped up. The Mexican agreed to a deal with Vince McMahon to do one last run and even to re-sign with WWE when his contract runs out in May, but it now seems that all of this is back up in the air.
Rey wanted to walk away from WWE earlier this year and was linked to promotions like AAA and the Lucha Underground, but it seems Rey would just prefer to cut his ties with WWE and be part of a company that doesn't require him to be on the road 300 days a year.

The 40-year-old isn't getting any younger and the wear and tear on his body from being the high flyer that he is wont be healing as fast as it was in his younger days. The fact that he has been out injured so much over the past few years would have been playing on his mind, especially with superstars like Edge who were given the news that they couldn't wrestle again due to injury.
Mysterio doesn't want to leave
Mysterio himself has a family that he will want to provide for and he wouldn't want to put himself in the position where he can't wrestle due to injury and that would be a lot more likely if he was performing as much as his WWE contract requires him to.
Mysterio already has many Wrestlemania moments in his lengthy career, he even main evented Wrestlemania and won the World Heavyweight Championship, so that wont be what is forcing the former Cruiserweight to keep coming back.
Although it will be interesting to see the way WWE handle one of their veterans bowing out, because Rey is a sure fire Hall of Famer in the future and it would be great to see him go out on a high.
The likeliest scenario now is that Rey Mysterio is a part of the 2015 Royal Rumble and bows out at Wrestlemania 31 leaving people like Sin Cara and Kalisto to continue down the path which he paved.
