Chelsea will have a number of scouts working their way from stadium to stadium looking for the next Cristiano Ronaldo or simply a viable squad player. Serie A is no exception and it is likely a few representatives were present as a full fixture list took place in Italy's top division.
Italy celebrated 'The Epiphany' on January 6, as they do every year, to celebrate the offerings from the three wise men to Jesus. Isn't that basically Christmas? I hear you say...
Let's not get into a religious debate now, the January transfer window is only open for a month and you've come to see how Chelsea targets performed on this sacred holiday.
Mauro Icardi - Juventus 1-1 Inter Milan
Mauro Icardi was Inter Milan's hero as they snatched an unlikely draw to throw Serie A wide open. AS Roma had beaten Udinese earlier in the day, drawing them level at the top of the table.
Carlos Tevez have the Old Lady an early lead but Icardi latched onto Freddy Guarin's through ball in the 64th minute and fired past Gianluigi Buffon for his fifth goal against Juventus in four games.
It should help to get Inter Milan a couple more million from Chelsea should Jose Mourinho choose to pursue a deal in the January transfer window. The Blues have been linked with a £20 million move in recent days.
Paul Pogba - Juventus 1-1 Inter MIlan
Paul Pogba was present in the same game but for the other team. The Frenchman has been linked with a really big money move to Stamford Bridge with Juventus ready to cash in for a cool £77 million.
That's not bad for a midfielder they signed for nothing two-and-a-half-years ago from Manchester United but the 21-year-old will have to play better if he is to attract bids of that size in the next 12 months. He couldn't provide the difference between the two sides.
Micah Richards - Parma 1-0 Fiorentina
Micah Richards is technically a Manchester City player but has been plying his trade in Serie A so far this season with Florence outfit Fiorentina. The Viola have had a poor season by their standards and are currently propping up the top half in ninth.
Their poor form has yet to reap rewards for Richards, however, who has struggled to get first team opportunities. Yesterday was no different as he watched his temporary team lose their fifth game of the campaign. His lack of first team football has not put Mourinho off, who has been linked with a move in the summer.
