South Africa completed a 2-0 series win over the West Indies after winning the third Test by eight wickets.

The hosts had been set a target of 124 runs for victory going into day five and were 9/1 after Alviro Petersen was dismissed just before the close of play.

South Africa made light work of the target, chasing it down within the first session, losing just one wicket in the process.

Winning runs

Man of the series Hashim Amla hit the winning runs, finishing 38 not-out, but it was the man Amla shared the fourth-wicket partnership with, Dean Elgar who starred.

The 27-year old scoring his fourth test fifty, he hit seven fours and one six in his innings of 60 not out.

Rankings summit

The series victory moves South Africa back to number one in the Test match rankings, but attentions for both teams will switch to the shorter forms of the game.

Ahead of the upcoming World Cup in Australia and New Zealand the two sides will face off in three T20 internationals first off all, followed by a five match ODI series in preparation for the tournament which kicks off on February 14.
