Manchester United are considering moves for midfield duo Kevin Strootman and Morgan Schneiderlin, according to talkSPORT.
The report has suggested that the Red Devils are on the lookout for a midfield addition in this January transfer window, with it appearing that Strootman and Schneiderlin are at the top of their list.
It appears, then, that they could be set to swoop for either of the stars in the near future as they go in search of success under Louis van Gaal.
The duo won't come cheap, however, with Strootman rated at around £32 million, whilst Schneiderlin has been rated at around the £25m mark. And, there's no doubt about it, it won't be easy for United to land either player, with Roma seemingly determined to maintain Strootman's services.
The Dutch international, who was an integral member of Van Gaal's international squad before picking up a long term injury, has only just returned to full fitness, and the Italian giants will be desperate to keep him as they look to rival Juventus for the Serie A title this term.
Strootman, though, is recognised as a huge talent, and United appear to be desperate to bring him to the Theatre of Dreams.
Schneiderlin, meanwhile, has proved a key man for Southampton this season, however has been linked with a move away from the St Mary's for some time now. The French international, who continues to prove his credentials in England's elite division, has also been linked with north London duo Arsenal and Tottenham, so it remains to be seen as to whether they will step up their interest in his services anytime soon.
Manchester United fans will certainly be hoping that the club invest in the middle of the park before the close of the window as they attempt to build a title challenge this term.
Despite adding the likes of Ander Herrera and Daley Blind this past summer, the Red Devils still appear to be in need of a tough tackling midfield star.
