With Arsenal still reeling from a bitter defeat in the last Premier League outing - the 2-0 defeat at the hands of Southampton - Arsene Wenger is sure to be looking to use the January transfer window in order to improve his squad.
Wenger's top target
The Frenchman is said to have a number of targets on his radar, with the acquisition of a new midfielder finding itself the plea coming from many areas of the stands. Today’s rumours indeed infer that such a player could be taking Wenger’s fancy, with Morgan Schneiderlin being lined up for a potential transfer.
The Southampton midfielder was one of the Gunners’ most desired options during the summer move, only to be denied a move following the exodus from St. Mary’s that saw the likes of Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren and Luke Shaw take their leave of the club.
It’s claimed that up to £25 million could be spent on trying to convince Ronald Koeman to part ways with one of his most influential players, with Arsenal in dire need of strong reinforcements in the middle of the park.
New wing-back on the scene?
Next up is a rumour that will raise eyebrows in north London to some degree, with Arsenal said to be interested in capturing the promising young full-back Raphael Guerreiro. The 21-year-old currently plies his trade for Lorient in France, and can also operate further forward on the wing if need be.

According to reports his versatility is something that Wenger is interested in, and the Frenchman could look to mould his compatriot into a player who is a competent Premier League talent in the future.
Winston Reid rumours
Elsewhere it’s believed that the Gunners are vying to agree a £3 million deal for West Ham star Winston Reid, and the New Zealand international appears close to an Upton Park exit.
The centre-back has proven his credentials with consistently good performances so far this term, and due to the fact that his deal expires this summer he can come to a pre-contractual agreement this month with another club.
Double move for world-class stoppers
Last but not least we have the speculation that plays heavily upon the recent trend that goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny is set to pay for his recent discrepancies with his position, as it’s claimed Arsenal are looking into deals for either Hugo Lloris of Chelsea hero Petr Cech. Szczesny was at fault for both Southampton’s goals in the 2-0 defeat, before reportedly being caught smoking in the showers.
