Arsenal named as Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo's favorite team

Arsenal's success over the past few decades has helped them break the global market and become one of the most popular teams in world football (even if a 4th Premier League title continues to elude them).

Fans across the world

Shirt sales in all corners of the world attest to that fact as does the near constant arrival of new celebrity fans.

The latest of which, NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo, may well have the honor of being the tallest Gunner yet.

Standing at 6 ft 11 inches, Antetokounmpo would dwarf even Arsenal's towering German centreback Per Mertersacker and with his Milwaukee Bucks side heading to London this month to play against the New York Knicks in the NBA's Global Game series the Greek born star has revealed one of the capital city's EPL teams as his favorite.

"I used to follow the Premier League when I was younger but a little less now as I have less time," he revealed to the media this week. "My favorite team is Arsenal. I am a huge Thierry Henry fan, I know he is a big NBA fan too."

Henry and the NBA

It is no surprise that the 20-year-old opted for Henry as his Arsenal idol, and he is right to note the team's all-time top goalscorer down as an NBA fanatic.

During his time in the US playing for New York Red Bulls the Frenchman was ofted spotted watching NBA games at New York's Madison Square Garden and late last year he even caused a stir when snapped in a hat embalzoned with the word "Spurs". Thankfully for loyal Gunners though, the reference was to NBA franchise the San Antonio Spurs rather than Arsenal's arch rivals Tottenham.

Newest supporter

From an Arsenal legend to their newest supporter though and in Giannis Antetokoumpo the Arsenal faithful have been joined by a fairly unique character.

Aged just 20, the man affectionately known as "The Greek Freak" has burst onto the seen in the pro league since arriving from his native Greece - his huge frame making him one of the most watchable players in the league capable of truly spectacular highlight reel dunks.

As well as dominating on the court he has also shown he isn't too shabby with a ball at his feet either. The video below shows he could do a job in the center of the field.

The Milwaukee Bucks take on the New York Knicks at NBA Global Games London 2015 at The O2 on January 15. The game is live on BT Sport 1 and on NBA LEAGUE PASS. To follow the NBA in the UK visit
