Manchester United youngster Paddy McNair has revealed that he would like to play alongside the club's former captain Nemanja Vidic.
Speaking to the club's official website, McNair, who has enjoyed a successful debut season at Old Trafford, has revealed that he grew up watching Vidic.
And McNair's wish could yet come true, with the Daily Star revealing that United could bring the Serbian ace back to the Theatre of Dreams in this January transfer window.
Vidic, who departed United this past summer, has endured a tricky time in the Serie A at Inter Milan, so may well be interested in a United return. The Red Devils, meanwhile, have struggled at the back under the Louis van Gaal regime this season, but it remains to be seen as to whether the club will make their move for the player's services before the end of the month.
McNair would clearly be pleased to see Vididc return as when asked whether he'd rather play alongside Vidic or former red Jaap Stam, he said: "To be honest, I never really saw Stam play, so I’ll have to say Vidic.

"I grew up watching Vidic play when he was here, so I’ve got to go for him."
McNair has also revealed that ex-United man Rio Ferdinand is his all-time favourite defender alongside Real Madrid ace Sergio Ramos.
He continued by saying: "All-time, probably Rio Ferdinand and Sergio Ramos.
"I trained with Rio a few times when he was here, and he passed on a few tips, and Ramos is a really good player for Real Madrid.
"He’s more of an all-round footballer than a defender."
McNair will currently be gearing up for this weekend's Premier League schedule as the Red Devils play host to Southampton. The youngster will be hoping to feature against the Saints on Sunday, but it remains to be seen as to whether Van Gaal will handing him a starring role.
United will no doubt be hoping to extend their unbeaten run in all competitions as they go in search of closing the gap on Premier League leaders Chelsea and Manchester City.
