He has pulled off some crucial saves so far this season allowing United to keep hold of a top four place and go on a 10-game unbeaten run in the League before they progressed to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over League one Yeovil on Monday.
The Spaniard's form has been so impressive that he has been linked with a move to Real Madrid who are looking for a replacement for the once best keeper in the world Iker Casillas.
Time will only tell if Valdes can give challenge de Gea for the number one shirt but it is hard to see on the United keepers current form.
