Brock Lesnar divides fan opinion more than most other wrestlers in the WWE, bar say Dean Ambrose or Roman Reigns.
But it doesn't matter if WWE fans hate the fact that Lesnar is just a part-timer and that he barely works any live shows outside Pay-Per-Views, and that the belts will be much more entertaining to follow when or if Lesnar leaves this summer.
It doesn't matter because Lesnar has just been voted the Wrestler of the Year for 2014 by Pro Wrestling Illustrated Magazine readers in their annual poll.
Lesnar has managed to come away with the award that covers all professional wrestling promotions around the world. He has also managed it despite actually only wrestling in four matches in the whole of 2014. It helps that they all just happened to be Pay-Per-View stealing/headlining matches.
One of those matches was probably the best fight of the whole year where Lesnar took on The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30 back in April and Lesnar came away with a shock victory to end Undertaker's winning streak at the WWE's grandest show of all.
Lesnar then went on to absolutely dominate former WWE Heavyweight Champion John Cena at Summerslam in what has to go down as one of the most one-sided Title matches in WWE Championship history where he brutalised Cena with nearly 20 German suplexes.
Daniel Bryan came second in the voting behind Lesnar, garnering 23% of the vote compared to Lesnar's 30%. The only non-WWE wrestler in the top five came in at number three with AJ Styles from TNA getting 17%, with John Cena behind him with 16%. Charlotte from NXT was named Rookie of the Year, she is the daughter of Ric Flair and became NXT's Women's Championship in the year.
Lesnar is definitely a controversial selection seeing as he hardly ever actually appeared on Television. Who do you think should have won the award? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below...
