Arsenal want to complete a deal to bring Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho to the Emirates within the next two weeks, according to the Daily Mail.

It has been reported that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is determined to secure the player's signature before the close of the transfer window as he goes in search of improving his side in the midfield department.

Midfield struggles

There's no doubt about it, the north London outfit have struggled in the midfield area this term, with the likes of Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Co. failing to protect the club's back-line.

Carvalho, then, could prove quite the coup for the Gunners, with the same report revealing that the Premier League outfit will have to spend at least £25 million in order to bring him to England.

Premier League interest

And, if Arsenal can land Carvalho then they will beat rivals Manchester United to his signature, with the Red Devils long term admirers of the midfield hard man.

At 22-years-old, the Portuguese ace most certainly has a bright future ahead of him, so would no doubt help the Gunners go in search of long term success if the club complete the big-money deal this month.
