Former Manchester United player Danny Higginbotham has tipped the Red Devils to make a move for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, reports talkSPORT.
Schneiderlin, who looks set to feature against United at Old Trafford today, has enjoyed a fine season in the middle of the park at the St Mary's throughout the course of the campaign so far.
And now, despite the Premier League duo of Arsenal and Liverpool being heavily linked with a £25m move for his services, Higginbotham has insisted that his former club may well be interested in the French international.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Higginbotham said: "There are a few players about, I think he [Schneiderlin] is one of them.
"There will be a lot of teams around that are interested in signing him, and he may even look at today - no disrespect to Southampton - as an advert to put himself on show.
"Man Utd are still a little bit short in midfield and I'm sure that they'll be looking to get new players in."
Manchester United in need?
There's no doubt about it, despite the fact that Louis van Gaal added the likes of Daley Blind and Ander Herrera to the club in the last transfer window, United could still do with improvement in the middle of the park as they go in search of long term success.
It remains to be seen as to whether the United hierarchy will look to bring the Southampton man to the club in the near future, but for now they will be hoping to secure all three points against their top four rivals this afternoon.
United will be hoping to extend their unbeaten run, but will have to stop the likes of Schneiderlin and Co. this afternoon.
