Cristiano Ronaldo is the man of the moment after winning the FIFA Ballon d'Or for a second year running on Monday night. Ok, he's the man of most moments when it comes to football, but this time there was a trophy and some shiny suits.
There was little surprise when his name was called out ahead of the others on the shortlist, Lionel Messi of Barcelona and Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich, as most people leading up to the vote had been saying he deserved it.
We all clapped when he walked up to the stage from out of the audience, resplendent in an expensive looking tuxedo and bow-tie (again, was a bit shiny - have we never heard of matte, people?!). We also clapped and looked on with a glisten in our eyes at his praise for his teammates.
But then we looked at one another with puzzlement, some verging on fear, as the almighty wail that emanated from the Real Madrid superstar at the end of his speech - 'Who the hell is Sue?' we asked one another, 'is he booing himself?' was the next query.
Turns out he was shouting 'si' in a way similar to when he celebrates scoring, which he does a lot. The problem with out understanding him was because he's usually thrown his shirt off when we see him do it. Anyway, the internet reacted well to it...

The best response, however, was from Ronaldo's very own teammates, who were called to attend a photo opportunity where he could show off the big golden ball trophy he was given in Zurich.
Everyone was crowded round the goal-machine and some funny bugger decided it was the perfect moment to mock the Ronaldo mating call. Happily for us, a few more of 'los Blancos' decided to join and everyone laughed. Oh, how they laughed.
When considering a person that would do something like Ronaldo did, you would be forgiven for assuming they took themselves a teeny weeny bit too seriously, to screech an odd noise when on stage accepting an award.
But, to his credit, the former Manchester United star had a chuckle at his hilarious companion and everybody went home happy.
