Ronnie O'Sullivan has equalled Stephen Hendry's record of 775 centuries during his 6-4 first round victory over Ricky Walden at Alexandra Palace.
He claimed the centuries during the 6th and 10th frame. However it didn't quite happen the way he would have liked.
He started the match perfectly though and stormed into a five one lead. However he was then cut back to 5-4 by a determined Walden who wouldn't back down.
The way he actually clinched the record was quite remarkable under the circumstances. He decided to try the "hit and hope" approach on the yellow. The ball bounced three times before finding it's way into the middle pot. It was a gamble that certainly paid of for the defending Champion.
He told The BBC: "I could have had it earlier on, you start to make silly mistakes when you're chasing a record. I scraped over the line."

Hendry was celebrating his 46th birthday the same day that his record was equalled. His response to having his record equalled was: "I am not not bothered. It was only a matter of time until it was beaten."
O'Sullivan completed a 116 clearance and he now prepares to face 10th seed, Marco Fu in the quarter finals. Where he'll be looking surpass the record that he has equalled.
