Palermo chief Maurizio Zamparini has confirmed that he has had talks with Manchester United over the availability of Serie A sensation Paulo Dybala, according to reports.
It’s claimed that the Red Devils have approached Palermo in order to see if a deal if feasible for the winter transfer window, though Zamparini not only informed them that it would take €40 million to secure the services of the 21-year-old, but that they would also have to wait until the summer.
Since the start of this campaign Dybala has been an unrestricted success, notching nine goals and assisting seven in just 17 domestic matches. His president held back no superlatives as he described him as the best striker in Europe at the moment, and revealed the depth of United’s interest.
"Dybala is worth over €40m, but I won’t sell him until June," he said.
"Many foreign clubs asked after him, including Manchester United. I told the English side that he is not for sale right now, but we can talk about it again in six months.

"In my view, he is the best striker in Europe at the moment."
Dybala, who is being touted by many as South America’s next big thing, is also wanted by Arsenal, with Arsene Wenger looking to bolster his frontline having agreed to let Yaya Sanogo complete a season-long loan move to Crystal Palace.
Van Gaal interest
However with United mentioned specifically by Zamparini it appears that Louis van Gaal is the more serious of the two Premier League bosses when it comes to taking the prodigal Argentinian to English shores.
With Javier Hernandez looking set to leave Old Trafford permanently at the end of the season, Radamel Falcao hardly impressing and Robin van Persie edging towards the twilight of his football career, Dybala could well be the option United need from the summer onwards.
Van Gaal has already discussed the idea of pushing captain Wayne Rooney into a deeper position in the midfield to increase his longevity, and so he may be in need of another forward.
Need for striker
In this respect there’s few who are more in form than Palermo’s goal machine, who only has ex-United star Carlos Tevez and Inter Milan ace Mauro Icardi ahead of him in the Serie A scoring standings. Whether or not Van Gaal is prepared to wait until the summer however is a question set to be answered in the coming weeks.
It’s been rumoured that he’s considered moving for Edinson Cavani in recent times, and the arrival of an individual of proven quality in front of goal before the winter window slams shut wouldn’t be all that surprising.
