Heather Watson reaches semi-final at Hobart International

Heather Watson has reached the third semi final of her career after beating Roberta Vinci 7-6 (7-0), 6-2.

The British number one, ranked 49th in the world, fought back from 5-2 down to win the first set and then went on to book her place in the semi final where she will face eighth seed and world number 42, Alison Riske. 

Watson is keeping her feet on the ground about the prospect of winning the tournament but  she can't help but feel optimistic about her chances.

Watson eyeing next title

When the BBC asked her if she sees Hobart as the best opportunity to clinch her second title she said: "Definitely, but I'm just thinking about my next match."

She also has the Australian Open, which kicks off on Monday, to look froward to. The draw for the first grand slam of the year takes place takes place on Thursday night.

She will be the only British representative in Melbourne as a result of Naomi Broady and Johanna Konta failing to qualify as well as Laura Robson's injury.
