Chelsea and Manchester United have been put on alert after revelations that Real Madrid star Luka Modric's wife is unhappy in Spain, reports the Express.
Fifa agent Francois Gallardo has revealed that, despite the fact Mordic is enjoying life at the Bernabeu, his wife isn't enjoying life in Madrid.
Return to England?
It has been suggested, then, that Modric, who left English soil in 2012, could yet return to the Premier League, with some of the top clubs in the division seemingly interested in his signature.
Speaking to Le 10 Sport, Gallardo said: "Modric is the engine of Real Madrid, but the problem it is his wife who did not fit into Madrid in Spain.
At this stage, however, it appears that any potential deal to land the Croatian ace is unlikely, but it appears that the likes of Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho will monitor his situation with great interest over the coming weeks and months.
In fact, Mourinho, who previously managed Modric in Spain, is a known admirer of the midfielder, but it remains to be seen as to whether the Blues boss will make a swoop for his signature anytime soon.
Chelsea, of course, already have the likes of Ramires, Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic at their disposal, but Modric would no doubt improve them even further as they go in search of success.
Manchester United, on the other hand, look set to splash the cash once again, with a number of players also set to head out of the Old Trafford exit gates.
Modric, then, would prove quite the coup for Van Gaal, as he looks to improve his side in the middle of the park.
It's certainly not surprising that both Manchester United and Chelsea are ready to swoop for the talented ace, as he's proved his credentials in La Liga over the last couple of years.
Despite a tricky start to his Bernabeu career, Modric is now a key man of the Madrid midfield, so it would certainly come as a major surprise if the Spanish giants decided to cash in on him in the near future.
