With the Royal Rumble having a staggering 30 entrants, each year it gets harder and harder to call the winner of the first pay-per-view event of the year.
This is why when a WWE legend explains his pick for the winner of the event, their thoughts are all the more important in giving us an idea of what is to come.
Ross on Reigns
For 2015, this is the case for none other than Jim Ross, who has told Rolling Stone that his pick for the winner of this year's Rumble which takes place on January 25th in Philadelphia, has to be former member of The Shield; Roman Reigns.
Reigns could have had an extremely successful year in 2014 had it not been for the emergency hernia operation he had to undergo. With this in mind, JR believes it is likely that Reigns will come out the victor from the January pay-per-view event, as this will kick start his year.
He said: “A lot of things depend on how healthy some of the guys are that are hurt.I would say you have a chance to have someone emerge from the Rumble that’s going to be your next big thing."

With Reigns having recently announced his return back to WWE and therefore full health, it is clear that he would be a genuine contender to win the 30-man match.
JR continued: "With that said, my feeling is that Roman Reigns wins the Royal Rumble. He has a great look. He has the confidence of the promotion, so I think he’d be a great potential winner."
Last year Reigns displayed a memorable performance during the Royal Rumble match, by eliminating an incredible record-breaking 12 wrestlers, before being removed himself by the eventual winner, Batista.
If Ross is correct in saying that this will be Reigns' year with regard to the Rumble, what number he will enter the ring at is interesting to note.
Last year he came in half way at 15, proving his physical strength to the absolute maximum by eliminating so many WWE Superstars before being the runner-up.
Whatever impact Reigns makes this year is sure to be impressive, with the line-up for the match already sure to deliver although there are still 20 wrestlers yet to be announced.
The list of entrants revealed so far is as follows:
- Roman Reigns
- Daniel Bryan
- Bad News Barrett
- Bray Wyatt
- Dean Ambrose
- Big Show
