Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens announced for NXT Takeover

Published 1 Comments

NXT hosted four spectacular special events in 2014 with Adrian Neville in all four of the main events before finally dropping the gold to Sami Zayn at the end of the year, and now the new champion is set to defend his championship at the first Takeover in 2015.

On January 15th three episodes of NXT were taped as NXT moved to its new night on Wednesday’s and General Manager William Regal announced the first NXT Takeover and its main event, but no official name has been given just yet.

This article will contain spoilers from the next three NXT tapings, if you wish to avoid these please turn back now.

Two championships will be defended on the night in what is already shaping up to be an exciting event, whilst we’ll see Ireland go up against England in a numbers one contenders match for the NXT Championship.

Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens

The main event of the night will probably be enough to make this event a huge success, as wrestling fans all over the world will want to tune in to watch El Generico and Kevin Steen battle it out again, this time at NXT with Sami Zayn defending the NXT Championship. It was previously reported that Adrian Neville would be joining in with this match and this feud as a whole but that doesn’t seem to be the case right now.

This match will come to fruition on the January 21 episode of NXT. Tye Dillinger will be waiting inside of the ring for his match and Sami Zayn will come down to the ring and attack Dillinger before the bell event rings, out of frustration over what happened at the end of the previous show when Kevin Owens hit a powerbomb on Sami Zayn and kicked the championship title on to his head to close the show.

He will demand a fight with Kevin Owens but William Regal appears and Sami will older Regal to make the match. But Regal offers him a non-title match on the night but Sami Zayn doesn’t care how it is, he just wants to fight. This is when William Regal makes the announcement after understanding how much it means to Sami Zayn, and at NXT Takeover on February 11, Sami Zayn will take on Kevin Owens in a non-title match, which is changed in the coming weeks so Sami Zayn will in fact be defending the gold.

Fatal 4 way

The second title match announced for Takeover will see Charlotte put her NXT Women’s Championship on the line a fatal 4 way match, so the odds will be against her in this one.

On the first episode from the tapings Charlotte will defend her championship against Sasha Banks in an R Evolution rematch and she will retain her championship as Becky Lynch gets involved and hands her team mate a loss through disqualification. Bayley evens the odds but surprisingly attacked Charlotte with her Bayley-to-Belly finisher, before William Regal came out to booked the match for Takeover.

This will be interesting for Charlotte as many thought she’d be dropping the gold at the end of 2014 and moving to the main roster but that wasn’t the case when she retained, perhaps this will be the event where Charlotte finally drops the NXT Women’s Championship and moves up to the main roster. The match itself will definitely be another great divas match which is talked about for months.

Adrian Neville vs Finn Balor

This is a match the fans will be wanting to see as soon as possible, this will be a number one contender’s match and right now you couldn’t pick a clear winner. Adrian Neville will be looking to get back into the championship picture which is probably the likely option to keep him strong whereas Finn Balor is also set for a big year on NXT and then the main roster as he isn’t set to stay on NXT for too long compared to other superstars.

This match will take place through a number one contender’s tournament, Finn Balor will defeat Curtis Axel in his quarter final match whilst Hideo Itami will defeat Tyler Breeze in his quarter final match. The two will clash and Finn Balor will come out on top.

Adrian Neville will defeat Tyson Kidd in his quarter final match and will take on and surprisingly defeat Baron Corbin in the semi-final clash, after Corbin defeats Bull Dempsey once again.

Bull Dempsey could potentially take on Baron Corbin once more at Takeover, whilst new Tag Team Champions in Buddy Murphy and Wesley Blake could also defend their gold, possibly against The Lucha Dragons.
