Nemanja Matic punches Cesc Fabregas during Chelsea goal celebration

Published 11 Comments

Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic accidentally punched Cesc Fabregas in the face whilst celebrating a goal during the Blues' emphatic 5-0 victory against Swansea City on Saturday.

The Serbia international - who has a reputation as a bit of a hardman thanks to his no-nonsense approach to playing - planted a cheap-shot in the middle of his team-mate's face at the Liberty Stadium yesterday.

Joining goalscorers Oscar and Diego Costa in a group huddle, Matic mistakenly caught Fabregas unaware with a flailing hand, prompting a brief grimace from the Spain international who had also taken part in the congratulations after helping his team cruise into a 4-0 lead at the break.

Two goals each from Oscar and Costa blew Garry Monk's Swans side away in the first 45 minutes in South Wales, before Andre Schurrle put the icing on the cake with a close-range finish just after the hour mark.

The victory extended Chelsea's lead at the top of the Premier League table to five points with nearest rivals Manchester City taking on Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
