AS Roma striker Mattia Destro is set to have talks with Premier League side Arsenal ahead of a proposed January move, according to the Daily Express.
The Italian forward has been monitored in recent months by Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, but according to reports in his homeland, it looks like the Gunners have won the race.
The 23-year-old, who joined Roma from Siena back in 2012, has scored 23 goals in 52 appearances and his consistent displays for Rudi Garcia's side has caught the attention of the Premier League trio, all whom are looking to sign a striker.
Arsenal are still looking for a new hitman despite signing Danny Welbeck from Manchester United over the Summer, and they feel that Destro could be the perfect addition to the squad.
Arsene Wenger was in Italy on Transfer Deadline Day back in the Summer and it was widely reported that he was there to hold talks with the Roma star, but it was later revealed that he was only there for a charity event.

As for Liverpool, they are also in dire need for more firepower after failing to replace Luis Suarez, who joined FC Barcelona at the end of last season.
Brendan Rodgers chose to bring in Mario Balotelli from AC Milan and Rickie Lambert from Southampton, but both have failed to impress during their brief time at Anfield, and with Daniel Sturridge missing most of the season, goals have been hard to come by for The Reds.
Despite signing three strikers during the break, Chelsea are also a club monitoring Destro and they were also reportedly weighing up a £20million bid for the Italian.
Jose Mourinho brought in Diego Costa, Loic Remy and Didier Drogba over the Summer, but with the latter set to leave at the end of this season, a new face is needed and Destro was reportedly going to be the man to come in.
However, according to an Italian journalist, talks between Arsenal and Roma are now taking place and a deal is likely to be agreed in the near-future.
Tancredi Palmeri is the man reporting it and he believes a deal could be agreed to this month, especially with Arsenal already losing three strikers.
Lukas Podolski and Yaya Sanogo left on loan for the season, whilst Benik Afobe joined Wolves on a permanent deal.
