Manchester United look set to miss out on the signing of Dutch wonderkid Daley Sinkgraven, as the youngster believes it is too early for him to move abroad.
Despite being just 19 the Heerenveen starlet has garnered a big reputation, and over the weekend Chelsea also confirmed their interest in capturing his signature.
However, in a response that’s all but put paid to any plans Louis van Gaal might have had, Sinkgraven has made it clear that he is first looking to play for one of the big clubs in the Eredivisie, before then perhaps moving on to one of Europe’s giants.
By that time it will be far clearer just how much potential the youngster has, with suitors having only his form for Heerenveen to date to go on.
In other transfer news United are said to be preparing a bid for former Red Devil Gerard Pique, with Barcelona thought to value him at just £15 million. The Spanish centre-back is seen as the ideal man to plug the hole in the heart of Van Gaal’s defence, though he may well turn down the offer of an Old Trafford return.
In the past Pique has reiterated that he wants to finish his career at the Nou Camp, although this season he's been dropped by Luis Enrique on more than one occasion. The 27-year-old has struggled since the retirement of Carles Puyol, and early on in the campaign he looked to have lost his place in the starting XI after shaky displays.
Being frozen out led to the likes of United and Chelsea being linked with him, though the speculation appeared to have fizzled out heading into the winter window.
- Van Gaal has reportedly told Adnan Januzaj that he has no place in the current United setup, although he'll have to wait until January to find out if he leave the club on loan or not. The winger hasn't looked the same this season, and he's been linked with a switch to get more game time.
