Manchester United are ready to sign Colombian hit-man Radamel Falcao on a permanent deal in order to swap him with PSG forward Edinson Cavani, reports the Telegraph.
Citing French paper L’Equipe, it has been reported that the Red Devils are ready to pay Monaco the full £43 million for Falcao's services, but then move him on immediately.
There's no doubt about it, the potential swap deal would no doubt prove one of the biggest transfers of the summer, but it remains to be seen as to whether United press ahead with their plans.
The long term future of Cavani has been placed in some doubt of late, with the same report suggesting that him and Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic are unable to play together in the same team.
In fact, the 27-year-old has endured a number of problems in Ligue 1 in recent time, with it looking increasingly likely that he's set to move on sooner rather than later.

And, he's certainly not short of admirers, with Manchester United's Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool also seemingly interested in his signature. He won't come cheap, however, with numerous reports suggesting that he's available for around £45 million.
United, then, appear to be ready to use Falcao as bait in order to bring the Uruguayan international to England's elite division.
Falcao has endured an indifferent opening to his Old Trafford career, having only found the net on three occasions for the club this term, so it's not surprising that Louis van Gaal has concerns over keeping him at the club for the long term.
For now, though, the Colombian forward will be hoping to impress over the coming weeks and months, but his future at United appears to be in some doubt. After featuring against Premier League strugglers QPR this past weekend, the forward will now be hoping to land a starting spot in Friday's FA Cup clash with Cambridge as United look to secure their place in the fifth round of the competition.
