The 2015 Royal Rumble is almost upon us and as per usual not all of the 30 spots have been announced and surprise entrants are a guarantee.
We should be seeing a number of returns from the likes of Randy Orton and perhaps Sheamus whilst there are also rumoured plans to bring back a few ECW originals as the WWE looks to take advantage of the fact that the Royal Rumble will be taking place in Philadelphia.
The WWE will also be looking to add an NXT superstar into the Royal Rumble, for two years now they have added an NXT superstar to the Royal Rumble to give them a flavour of the big time before eventually moving on to the main roster. Sometimes it works out – something we saw with Rusev’s Royal Rumble appearance and now he’s the United States Champion on the main roster – and the time before that it was Bo Dallas who made an appearance in the Royal Rumble.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported earlier this week that there was talk backstage at Monday Night Raw that NXT stars could take up to two or three spots this year, compared to one spot in 2013 and 2014.
With the option of including NXT wrestlers in the Rumble and continuing this small tradition, here are the NXT superstars I believe should be in with a shout of making their Royal Rumble debuts.
The main roster should now be familiar with what Adrian Neville brings to the table, a no-nonsense high-flier who makes the impossible look very easy. The WWE brought in Bo Dallas and Rusev to the Rumble because at the time they were the next to make a move to the main roster and if they go by that same logic then Adrian Neville should be next in line to not only make a Rumble appearance but also make a move to the main roster.
The fans will marvel at what he brings to the ring at such a huge occasion in what could be a big moment in his career, it’s clear that he won’t be winning but making an appearance and putting on a decent performance with a number of eliminations will leave the fans wanting more, and his highly-anticipated move to the main roster would also be worth the wait.
Baron Corbin has a great look for someone who has the potential to be a dominating force for the next few years. He’s doing well on NXT after squashing a number of stars, and he’s finally biting his teeth into something worthwhile in his current feud with Bull Dempsey and a Royal Rumble appearance would be a huge surprise, considering many fans will have no idea who he even is.
He’s not a loud-talker, but he’s also a no-nonsense superstar who prefers to stay alone in the WWE and the Royal Rumble is that kind of match. He does have a lot of work to do but I believe he does have the potential to eventually move to the main roster after some more time on NXT, he could shock the fans with a number of eliminations,
Last year the fans in attendance at the Royal Rumble booed Rey Mysterio when he was the final entrant but this time a masked superstar could receive a huge reaction. There has been talk of having Kalisto move up to the main roster next and a Royal Rumble appearance would be the ideal event to have Kalisto join the main roster. He has a great look about him and his attire stands out in itself so there won’t be any fears of him falling into the pack.
Even though a lot of main roster fans may not know him, he’ll certainly leave the fans wanting a lot more because of his in-ring style and enthusiasm. The WWE needs a new Mexican star with Rey Mysterio’s future uncertain and Kalisto is the man to replace him.

SAMI ZAYN AND KEVIN OWENS
There is a tense rivalry brewing over on NXT between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens and that could well transition over into the Royal Rumble. They have a big NXT Championship match set for NXT Takeover on February 11 and the Royal Rumble could be the big platform the WWE utilises to have more people tune in to NXT. I believe that both men will be guaranteed successful superstars on the main roster and there will be a number of fans who are familiar with El Generico and Kevin Steen, which could make this occasion more special, not only for these two, but for the independent fans that have followed them.
There’s no denying their superior ability to most guys in the entire WWE and they could show off their skill set to the world. I believe that Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens should both be in the Royal Rumble, not one or the other as only one of them appearing would make no sense in terms of their feud. Having Kevin Owens eliminate Sami Zayn would be brilliant build-up for their match at Takeover.
NXT fans – which NXT star do you think the WWE should consider putting in the Royal Rumble?
