Manchester United will offer midfielder Darren Fletcher the opportunity to return to the club when he retires from the game, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Fletcher's career on the pitch for United looks likely to come to an end imminently, with the same report revealing that he's set to sign a three and half year deal with West Ham United.
However, it now appears that the Scotsman could one day head back to the Theatre of Dreams, with the report suggesting that the United hierarchy will offer him a coaching role in the future.
The Scotsman, who will turn 31 next month, has endured a tricky time under Louis van Gaal this term, as he's struggled for first-team opportunities.
Despite impressing in pre-season and being made the club's vice-captain this past summer, Fletcher has failed to hold down a regular place in the Dutchman's starting line-up at the Theatre of Dreams.
And now, with the player approaching his latter years, it appears that that he's ready to get his career back on track at West Ham United.
There's no doubt about it, though, Manchester United fans will most certainly be pleased that the Scotsman could one day join the coaching set up. Fletcher is held in high regard by the Manchester United faithful, so would no doubt be welcomed back.
In fact, Fletcher could make his West Ham debut against his current club, with the Hammers set to go head-to-head with Manchester United on February 8 at Upton Park.
And with Sam Allardyce's side just four points behind the Red Devils, they will fancy themselves to get a result in the showdown.
Without Fletcher, United fans will no doubt be hoping that the likes of Daley Blind, Ander Herrera, Marouane Fellaini and Co. step up and prove their credentials over the coming weeks and months as United go in search of success in the second half of the season.
