Manchester United would have to offer over €50 million in order to secure the services of Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos, reports le10sport.
The report has suggested that, despite the difficulties of any potential deal, Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal has made the Brazilian defender his priority transfer target.
It's certainly not surprising that Manchester United are interested in the player's signature, as he's recognised as one of the leading young defenders in world football. At just 20-years-old, he looks set for a huge future in the game, but has endured a tricky spell in Ligue 1 of late.
After David Luiz signed for the French champions this past summer from Chelsea, Marquinhos has fallen down the pecking order at the club, with Thiago Silva also playing a key role for Laurent Blanc's side.
However, he's certainly a talented defender, so it's not surprising that Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is interested in his signature.

In fact, despite his young age, the former Roma ace, would provide a commanding figure at the heart of the club's defence.
United in need
There's no doubt about it, Van Gaal's side have struggled at the back throughout the course of the season, with the side looking extremely vulnerable.
In truth, the trio of Phil Jones, Jonny Evans and Chris Smalling have all failed to maintain their fitness and find top form under the new regime, while new signing Marcos Rojo has failed to prove his credentials for the club on a consistent basis.
United fans will no doubt be hoping the club's hierarchy move in for new defenders sooner rather than later, but it now remains to be seen as to whether the club press ahead with a move for Marquinhos.
With the January transfer window now in its latter stages, transfer activity is looking increasingly unlikely by the day, but fans will still be hoping for some late action as the club go in search of a succesful second half of the season.
