Arsenal star Mesut Ozil's private life has managed to more often that not stay just that during his first 18 months in England, which makes every time we hear the World Cup winner communicate all the more intriguing.

Ozil comes across as an introvert but clearly wanted to post something to thank fans for their support during his three-month spell on the sidelines thanks to a medial ligament tear, which he did this afternoon in bizarre fashion.

The short Twitter post had an unnatural pose that David Brent in his pomp would have been proud of, creating one of the most unintentionally hilarious official messages from a footballer in recent times.

Just a chilled out entertainer

Who would have thought the following short sentence could produce such awkwardness: "Hi everybody, thank you so much for your support following all my social media platforms. Really appreciate it."

It's the whole premise of the piece that's so ridiculous. Ozil supposedly just chilling out in his garden with Adidas trainers prominent in the centre of the shot.

There's also his unfortunate accent, which quite magnificently came to the fore straight after Arsenal's FA Cup success at Wembley last May.

Go Gunners Yah indeed...
