November 9th was just a normal day for most people. I bet you can't even remember what you did, unless it was your birthday, in which case you are disqualified from this game. Brooklyn Beckham is also disqualified as it was reportedly the day he signed his first contract with Arsenal.
But after those initial reports emerged, there was a lack of official confirmation from either the 15-year-old of from Arsenal. It was just a short-term contract, so any other youngster would have failed to make headlines. But as the son of probably the most famous footballer of all time, Arsenal fans were keen to know they were true.
An Arsenal source told the Daily Star: “Brooklyn is talented and he has stood out in all of the training sessions and games he has played.
“He has had other teams sniffing around and it was always going to be a case of when, not if, he was signed up by a big-name club.
There was further proof in December when Brooklyn's father, David Beckham, crashed his car just a stone's throw away from Arsenal's Hale End academy. There were also tweets from Brooklyn's competitors, who had confirmed they had played against him.
But only now have the Gunners faithful finally got the confirmation they so desperately pined for. Yes, Brooklyn himself put up a photo on his Instagram account clearly showing him in Arsenal training gear.
Here it is...
It was certainly quite a coup for Arsenal when they bagged Beckham Jr late last year. Chelsea and Manchester United were also chasing him but was quickly snapped up by Arsene Wenger after he impressed on a trial spell in north London.
Manchester United would have probably been the destination of choice for his father, who came through the academy at Old Trafford and went onto become one of their most successful players in one of the most successful eras for the club.
