Chelsea are ready to make a late bid for West Ham's Enner Valencia sending Loic Remy the other way, according to sensational reports in the Daily Mirror.
It is believed that Chelsea are readying a bid as a backup in case moves for Juan Cuadrado and Douglas Costa don’t pan out. Fiorentina are holding out for the full amount of Cuadrado’s £26.8 million buy out clause - which ends this month - meanwhile Shakhtar, who have a reputation of being difficult to deal with, value Costa at £30 million.
It is believed that West Ham will turn down any offer for the Colombian player who signed for £12 million last summer. Valencia has had a monumental impact on West Ham this season, bringing terrifying pace and trickery to Upton Park. Playing from both the left and centre he has three goals and three assists in 19 appearances.
Adding to the team
The high-flying Hammers are not prepared to let the player leave, even in a part exchange for Loic Remy, who would surely demand higher wages that Valencia. West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has quickly dismissed any possibility of Valencia leaving in a part exchange for Remy as he only joined in the summer.
Rather than looking to let players leave the club, West Ham are believed to want to bring players in to add depth, and mount a renewed challenge for Europe, by bringing in Darren Fletcher.
In non-transfer news, the African Cup of Nations has been proving tricky for West Ham. The London side has been reported to Fifa by Senegal for not releasing Diafra Sakho for the tournament after picking up a back injury. He went on to play in the FA Cup.
