Much of the Dallas Cowboys' 2014 season success was built upon DeMarco Murray taking full advantage of the powerful offensive line in front of him.
With Murray's current deal up for renewal this offseason though, and the running back expecting to get paid after a breakout year, there is no guarantee that he will be back at at AT&T Stadium in 2015.
So, with the two sides reportedly some distance apart on the valuation of a new deal, who could Dallas look to to be their stud RB next season? Well, according to Bleacher Report's NFL Insider, Jason Cole, that man looks likely to be Adrian Peterson.
Cole has revealed that, per sources close to both the Dallas Cowboys and Adrian Peterson, Dallas have "strong interest" in Peterson so long as the controversial RB is willing to take a pay cut.
"Despite his high price tag there is a feeling that he may be willing to take a little bit less money to come back to Texas, where he was born and raised, and play for the Cowboys."

The Cowboys' interest in Peterson has developed in the months since the veteran was placed on the commissioner's exempt list following allegations of beating his child with a switch.
In recent months owner Jerry Jones has spoken to the player and Peterson himself reportedly admitted that he'd love to play in Dallas some day.
With Peterson's future with the Vikings up in the air after their wavering support for him during his recent exile there is a growing expectation that the player will seek a new chapter in his career for the 2015 season should he return.
At the end of the day whether it is Peterson, Murray, or someone else running the ball for the Cowboys it all, inevitably, comes down to money.
"There is interest by the Cowboys in making a serious run at the Super Bowl but not a strong desire to pay the kind of price tag they expect DeMarco Murray to demand - around $7 million" - Jason Cole, NFL Insider
While Adrian Peterson would bring with him over 10,000 career rushing yards and 91 touchdowns, having been absent for an entire season, there will be question marks about his ability to slot into the Cowboys system.
DeMarco Murray meanwhile is a huge hit amongst Dallas fans right now after a 2014 campaign which saw him rack up 1,845 yards. But can they afford to stump up the bill to keep him, especially with Dez Bryant's new deal to consider.
