Atletico Madrid midfielder Arda Turan was presented with a brilliant cake during celebrations for his 28th birthday last night, a mock-up of the quite incredible incident involving the Turkish international in a Copa del Rey's showdown with Barcelona just 24 hours earlier.
Turan completely lost in after not being awarded a free-kick in the ill-tempered quarter-final second leg at the Vicente Calderon, with the rest mist descending in a crazy incident which saw the playmakern throw it in the assistant referee's direction.
Luckily for him the lob missed by miles, which meant the rush of blood to the head could be celebrated in the form a sweet treat at Turan's birthday meal the next night.
Turan escapes punishment
Thankfully for whoever the comedian in Atletico's dressing room is Turan will definitely escape punishment for the flying football boot, with no retrospective action to be taken.
He can count himself very lucky with that decision, with the referee's committee in Spain effectively powerless to step in because Turan was booked for dissent in the aftermath of that outburst.

Happy birthday Arda
That move means there's no chance of Turan missing next week's derby against Real Madrid, one where Diego Simeone's men will need to show they can go back to the controlled aggression that's made them such a force in La Liga.
Atleti finished the Barca match with just nine men and both red cards were very much avoidable, with Gabi and Mario Suarez both guilty of letting the frustration of a Copa Del Rey exit get the better of them.
Morale has clearly not been affected by that 4-2 aggregate defeat though, who were out in force to celebrate the birthday of their big-bearded linchpin soon after.
