Cristiano Ronaldo spotted in Lamborghini Aventador

We can sometimes manage to justify a treat after completing a job well done. Finally finished painting the kitchen only four years after you started? Well, that deserves a cold pint of craft beer. Win the Ballon d'Or? The only thing for it is a brand new £300,000 super car.

While we are unsure what Cristiano Ronaldo's DIY skills are like, we are confident that his new purchase of a Lamborghini Aventador came as a result of him winning the coveted world player of the year award for a third time. It seems like quite an extravagant gift for anyone, but the car cost him the equivalent of about five and a half days work.

The only thing left to do was to drive it ostentatiously around a road lined with photographers, fans and cameramen. To make sure the fans are on side Ronaldo made sure his new purchase fell in line with the Real Madrid code of conduct. It is all white. Imagine if it was a certain shade of red – oh the stories we could have written.

We can imagine Ronaldo likes driving around with his Golden Ball riding in the passenger seat – Irina Shayk won't be getting a lift any time soon (they split up, in case you don't read Grazia magazine) – and that his rear-view mirror is adjusted so it stares right back at him.

He can make bellowing noises into it, steaming it up as if something more sensual was happening on those premium leather seats. This is the life of Cristiano Ronaldo as we both see and imagine it. Sad, yet something we all aspire to. How strange a thought for a Friday.
