WWE: Who needs to impress the most at Fast Lane?

Published 4 Comments

The supposedly controversial Royal Rumble pay-per-view is now in the books and attentions are now turning to the WWE’s newest event, Fast Lane.

So far only two matches have been confirmed for the event with many more expected in the coming weeks, Nikki Bella will defend her Divas Championship against Paige as Rusev and John Cena will clash on the same event rather than saving their match for WrestleMania XXXI.

We also know that Triple H will be calling out The Vigilante; Sting for a face to face confrontation which should all but confirm that the two legends will battle it out at WrestleMania 31.

With the WWE Universe not hiding their feelings towards the likes of Roman Reigns and the WWE in general, the WWE will need to pull something special out of the bag to win the fans over again, and that could very well begin on next week’s episode of Monday Night Raw and his announcement which he claims will shake the WWE to its core.

With plenty of pressure already on the WWE, there are also certain superstars who will need to impress on February 22 at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee.

Roman Reigns has a huge task on his hands at Fast Lane, it doesn’t matter who his opponent will be; he will need to pull something extra special out of the bag to somehow win over the fans who booed him out of the arena at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

Triple H’s announcement could have an impact on Roman Reigns, we might see Reigns being put through a number of tough obstacles in order to win over the fans and get his rightful championship match at WrestleMania or we might even see an addition to the match.

There’s not much else Roman Reigns can do right now but continue to work hard inside of the ring, there is always room for improvement and he can certainly improve on his limited move set. As soon as his scripted promos are thrown out of the window then maybe we might see a Reigns the fans can get behind once again. Whoever his opponent or opponents may be at Fast Lane, he needs to put on a show for the audience in attendance and at home so we can believe in him once again.

The fact that Sting hasn’t even spoke inside a WWE ring doesn’t even matter, he is in the WWE and that’s what the fans love, plus we know it’s pretty much a guarantee that he will be competing at WrestleMania XXXI against Triple H.

I think both men need to impress at Fast Lane because we need something to finally trigger the WrestleMania match, we can’t have Sting just show his face once more and then disappear, we’ve seen that already as great as it was.

Triple H and Sting both know that the fans will be on the edge of their seats to see what unfolds, and they both have pressure on their shoulders to do something which will be talked about for the next month. Whether it’s a challenge being issued or Triple H and The Authority laying Sting out, it needs to be memorable.

Although it’s been heavily rumoured, it’s not clear whether Bray Wyatt will indeed go up against The Undertaker at WrestleMania. Even though he’s had strong showings against Chris Jericho, Dean Ambrose and his sting in the Royal Rumble it’s no secret that there was a halt in momentum once the feud with John Cena came to a close last year.

We don’t even know if Bray Wyatt will have a match at Fast Lane because he isn’t in a feud, and the WWE need to actually give him something to bite his teeth into and show us his creative and genius side we saw when he first arrived.

I believe if Bray Wyatt can’t give the fans something to remember or talk about at Fast Lane then it could affect the role he plays at WrestleMania, he’s simply too good to not have at the final stop before WrestleMania.

The same applies to Dean Ambrose, the WWE failed to capitalise on his momentum just like they did with Bray Wyatt and putting the two together for a couple of months wasn’t the best of ideas at the time.

But that’s in the books now, we can’t change that but what the WWE need to focus on is giving Ambrose a great two month feud – possibly included in a certain championship match – and have him at Fast Lane to make things that much more entertaining.

There’s no real standout heel who could work with Ambrose, we don’t need another clash between Wyatt and Ambrose so the WWE have their work cut out with him. He oozes talent and charisma and the WWE need to utilise this at Fast Lane so fans are excited to see him at WrestleMania.

This is definitely the toughest test for Rusev since he made his move to the main roster, they don’t come bigger than John Cena. Rusev is well on his way to becoming one of the most successful NXT graduates and a match against John Cena for any NXT superstar will be a dream come true and it already adds so much pressure.

Rusev hasn’t really faced the greatest of superstars in this undefeated run, and some of the finishes haven’t been clean either and I think if John Cena and Rusev are to go at it again at WrestleMania then we could expect another inconclusive finish.

Rusev has a lot on his plate come Fast Lane, he not only needs to put on a great performance as a heel, but he also needs to make sure he doesn’t look too weak against John Cena who many believe could be the one to end this undefeated reign.
