Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard has admitted that he could return to Chelsea in the future, reports Sky Sports.
The English veteran, who departed Stamford Bridge at the end of last season, has revealed that Jose Mourinho has already told him that he'd love to have him back at the club one day.
Chelsea is home
Lampard, of course, will take to the field at Stamford Bridge for the first time since leaving the club today with Manchester City, but he's insisted that Chelsea feels like home.
Speaking exclusively to Soccer AM, Lampard said: “Jose Mourinho and the club from the top have said they’ll love for me to be involved, whenever I want to go back.
“Chelsea is like going back home and it feels such a big part of me. When you are part of Chelsea, I’ve seen it with people like ‘Chopper’ Harris and Peter Bonetti, they’re still there to this day.
"It’s a club that really looks after its players. If the opportunity was there to go back, I would love to, as I had such a long career there. It’s a part of me – and that never changes.”
For now, though, Lampard will be focusing on breaking Chelsea hearts, with Manchester City in desperate need of securing a positive result this evening.
Lampard, who scored against the Blues at the Etihad earlier on this season, looks set to feature, but may have to settle for a place on the bench for the showdown.
By the end of play this evening, City could move within two points of Chelsea if they're able to secure all three points at the Bridge.
