Last weekend's Royal Rumble pay-per-view event threw up many surprises, with several WWE superstars who were rumoured to be making an appearance nowhere to be seen.
Probably the most prominent of these wrestlers was Randy Orton, whose return to WWE has been postponed several times of late. He is expected back Monday on Raw.
Original return cancelled?
It has been said that Orton's original comeback was scheduled for the pay-per-view event which took place in Philadelphia last Sunday, but the decision was made to cancel his appearance despite him being advertised for the show.
This was because the company supposedly felt that both Daniel Bryan's return as well as Roman Reigns' Royal Rumble Match win would overshadow Orton making his first appearance for a while.
In addition, there has also been talk of Orton's delayed-return being so because he is expected to come back as a big baby face and losing his first match back would therefore not be the right way to go about it.
As well as this, according to the Observer, the likes of Sheamus, Bo Dallas and Alex Riley were also meant to appear at the Royal Rumble event too, but WWE decided to keep them out because of how they wanted to portray Reign's win.
During his time off, Orton had been filming The Condemned 2 as well as having some minor nasal surgery.
He did however make an unofficial return at the end of December, when he made appearances at house shows as well as dark main events on Raw.
Though it seems his official return seems more certain this time around, it would not be too out of character for WWE to postpone his appearance even further.
Whenever The Viper does make his full return though, the WWE Universe is in for some exciting viewing as we will be able to see the feud between him and Seth Rollins unfold.
Though nothing has yet been confirmed, there is a good chance that the feud between these two big names of WWE will form as part of the build-up to a huge WrestleMania XXXI match between the pair.
