Hello and welcome to transfer deadline day. Don’t worry, we’re well aware of how excited you are.
For all you Manchester United fans out there the next 13 hours or so could bring plenty of joy, with the Red Devils having been linked with a number of big-name transfers in the past month. Louis van Gaal has money to spend and it makes sense to assume he’s keen on improving his squad.
So, without further ado let’s take a look at the latest rumours churning on the mill.
De Bruyne rejection
First and foremost it’s bad news with regards to the supposed pursuit of former Chelsea ace Kevin de Bruyne, who has excelled since his move to VfL Wolfsburg last year. The Belgium international was said to be a surprise target for United to the tune of £30 million, but it’s now claimed that he will reject a return to the Premier League in the form of Van Gaal’s squad, as he’s perfectly happy where he is.
With Wolfsburg ready to consent to an impressive outlay in order to capture the services of Chelsea forward Andre Schurrle the the original theory was that they’d be more open to the idea of offloading De Bruyne to pay for it, but without his approval no move is going to happen.

Next up it’s a goodbye for right-back Marnick Vermijl, with the 23-year-old all but certain to sign for Sheffield Wednesday today. The defender, who has only appeared sparingly for United’s first-team, has been frozen out of the squad under Van Gaal just as he was under David Moyes, but it appears his agent has secured him the move away he was so desperately craving.
And he’s not the only one waving farewell to Old Trafford, with longtime flop Anderson in Brazil to have a medical ahead of his proposed transfer to Internacional. The midfielder, who was tipped for big things when he was first purchased by Sir Alex Ferguson in 2007, has received plenty of criticism over the past two years for being an ineffectual member of the squad, but at 26 he’ll be hoping to resurrect his career in his homeland.
