Paris Saint-Germain owners are annoyed with Manchester United over their pursuit of defender Marquinhos, reports the Daily Star.
It has been suggested that the Old Trafford outfit have made a number of calls over the course of the past week as they look to bring the highly rated Brazilian defender to England before the close of the transfer window.
The deadline, of course, is tonight, but it appears that Louis van Gaal will not get his man with PSG seemingly wanting to keep the youngster in France.
In fact, the same report has revealed that PSG are refusing to strike a deal with United after previously rating him at an extraordinary £112 million.
Despite Marquinhos currently being behind the duo of David Luiz and Thiago Silva at the club, it appears that Laurent Blanc and Co. want him to stay as they go in search of long term success.
There's no doubt about it, despite having struggled on French soil in recent time, Marquinhos looks set for a bright future in the game, but it's now increasingly unlikely that he will complete a move to England's elite division anytime soon.
Manchester United, then, may have to look elsewhere, with the club seemingly in need of defensive recruitment.
Despite improvements of late, the Red Devils have looked vulnerable at times throughout the course of the campaign, with the likes of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans failing to maintain their fitness and find top form.
Summer signing Marcos Rojo, meanwhile, has also endured injury problems, but is starting to settle to life in Manchester. With the clock ticking in the transfer window, the United defenders may well be handed another six months to prove themselves under the Van Gaal regime.
And the back-line will no doubt be hoping to keep a clean sheet as they play host to League Two outfit Cambridge United in the FA Cup tomorrow evening as Van Gaal's side go in search of securing their spot in the fifth round of the competition.
