“Adam is a different type of striker than we have on the roster so far which gives us a different dimension up front and options on how our forward line can play,” sporting director Claudio Reyna said at Nemec's unveiling.
“It’s important to have players with a range of strengths and attributes, he’s a strong and powerful athlete and will add a real goal scoring threat to our team. We’re delighted to add Adam to an already strong group of strikers” - Claudio Reyna
Nemec himself then spoke about his move, saying that he was happy to be playing with New York City as well as using the team in order to cement his place in the Slovakia national team.
“Joining New York City FC is a fantastic opportunity for me. I hope to make an immediate impact and help the team get off to a great start as we begin our historic inaugural season,” Nemec told NYCFC.com.
“I know that being part of an ambitious club like New York City FC will give me the chance to show what I am capable of and maintain my place on the Slovakian National Team as we look to qualify for the Euro 2016 Finals.”
New York City will be looking to make a solid start to the 2015 MLS season which kicks off in March, but you can be sure that there will be more signings to bolster the roster between now and their first game against fellow MLS newcomers Orlando City SC who boast former World Player of the Year Kaka.
