As is the nature of the NFL schedule the Seattle Seahawks now face several months in which to contemplate Sunday's Super Bowl heartache.
Unfortunately for several members of the Seahawks' infamous 'Legion of Boom' they may have to combine mental pain with the physical after news today.
Bad news keeps coming
After Pete Carroll confirmed that star corner Richard Sherman is heading for Tommy John surgery reports today suggest that as many as three of Seattle's other defensive stars are set to go under the knife this offseason.
Seattle entered the Super Bowl with several players less than 100-percent, and, while Carroll was at pains to praise the banged up stars for putting their bodies on the line, it looks like drastic action is required in the coming weeks to prevent any long term damage heading into next season.
After breaking his arm in a nasty fall in Arizona, Jeremy Lane is definitely in line for "significant surgery."

Meanwhile LOB stalwarts Kam Chancellor (knee) and Earl Thomas (shoulder) may also have the long road of rehabilitation ahead:
"All-Pro safety Earl Thomas may need to have the labrum in his left shoulder repaired and strong safety Kam Chancellor may need knee surgery."
Chancellor's issue is perhaps most concerning for Seahawks fans with Carroll admitting the knee injury is looking worse than originally feared.
"He may have had an earlier injury from years past, and maybe some of the damage was from before. He got really banged hard on it," said Carroll on Chancellor's knee complaint.
While it doesn't appear that any of the four players will be forced to miss the beginning of the 2015 NFL season the fact that virtually the entirety of Seattle's secondary is facing surgery is concerning.
No one can ever be sure how their body will recover from surgery and, after the toughest couple of days in his career to date, Pete Carroll will be hoping his charges come through treatment unscathed.
At present the Seahawks are favorites to win next year's Super Bowl. Any unforeseen complications with any of the surgeries and that could swiftly change.
