Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie admits he is thrilled to receive praise from Thierry Henry after the Arsenal legend's comments on transfer deadline day.
Bolasie has been instrumental for Palace this season, but his Premier League campaign has been interrupted with the African Cup of Nations. DR Congo face Ivory Coast in a semi-final on Wednesday.
His performances haven't gone unnoticed by the Frenchman, who believes the Eagles miss their mercurial winger.
Henry told Sky Sports News: “I think it’ll be good for Pardew to see Bolasie come back from the African Cup of Nations, they miss him.”
The comments came when a distinguished panel - including former England midfielder Jamie Redknapp and Arsenal striker Alan Smith - were discussing the re-signing of Wilfred Zaha from Manchester United.
However, talk soon drifted onto Bolasie - one of the most exciting players in the Premier League today.
GiveMeSport put the comments to the 25-year-old in a phone interview, and the former Bristol City starlet was understandably thrilled at the comments.
He told us: “It’s great to hear comments like that from a top professional!”
The main strength of the DR Congo star is his speed and dribbling ability, and he is currently taking the AFCON by storm. His nation have reached the semi-final for the first time since 1988.
More missed games?
If Bolasie goes all the way to the final, it will take place on February 8 - meaning he will miss Palace’s next game away at Leicester City. However, he'll be back for the home clash with Newcastle United.
The Eagles have been in fine form over recent weeks, having won four out of their last five games in all competitions, and they will hope their run continues when they get their star man back.
