The latest developing in Johnny Manziel's young NFL career saw the former Texas A&M quarterback check himself into rehab.
Manziel's franchise, the Cleveland Browns, have publicly backed the oft-criticized QB's decision this week but reports suggest the situation is forcing them to consider a surprise move in this year's NFL Draft.
Assessing their options
Bleacher Report's NFL Insider Jason Cole is reporting that, with the Browns quarterback situation moving forward now well and truly up in the air with Hoyer a free agent, the franchise's front office is contemplating a trade that puts them in the running for highly rated former Oregon QB Marcus Mariota.
The Browns have two picks in the top 20 of this year's NFL Draft - no. 12 and no. 19 - and Cole's Cleveland sources revealed a move is being discussed:
"I'm talking to sources within the Browns organization...and there is going to be very strong consideration about moving up for a quarterback," - Jason Cole, Bleacher Report Insider.

"They were already thinking about that because they like Marcus Mariota so much, and Jameis Winston to a lesser degree, but they really believe that they need to have that franchise quarterback."
Manziel checked himself into treatment for a reported substance-abuse problem at the start of this week, and while all involved hope the young player gets the help he needs, after a troublesome rookie year in which anticipation was quickly replaced by concern regarding his off the field attitude it appears the Browns' faith in Manziel as a long term option is at an all time low.
"In light on what's gone on with Manziel...there is a tremendous amount of fear for the future here and a very strong consideration of going and get somebody - especially Mariota, who they really like and they think would be a proper face for the franchise and a guy who is far more dependable than the guys that they've had there so far."
Mariota highly rated
The Cleveland Browns will have to make an appealing offer should they follow through with interest in the Oregon quarterback after it emerged last week that Tampa Bay, who hold the number one pick, are very keen on selecting the Heisman winner.
With recent blockbuster NFL draft trades (think Washington and RGIII), and the issues the franchise has had with their QB selection from just 12 months ago, Browns fans will be hoping their team makes the right decision for all involved when the Radio City extravaganza gets underway.
