Arsene Wenger has confirmed this morning that two players have signed contracts with Arsenal, but before fans get too excited the players in question already belong to the club. Young forward Chuba Akpom and French midfielder Francis Coquelin have both pledged their futures to the Emirates Stadium, with the pair both wanted by other clubs. During the transfer window Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund offered contracts to Akpom, whilst Napoli were said to have made a deadline day move to sign Coquelin. Wenger also took the chance during his press conference to praise Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane ahead of this weekend’s north London derby. The Gunners boss said he was impressed by the English striker, and hailed his consistency. On the transfer front it’s been claimed that the future of Ilkay Gundogan will be decided by whether or not Dortmund are relegated. If they do go down sources say it will aid Arsenal’s bid to sign him.
