Louis van Gaal has threatened to drop Angel di Maria and Adnan Januzaj following Manchester United's disappointing 1-1 draw against West Ham on Sunday afternoon.
Neither Di Maria nor Januzaj performed well at Upton Park, and Van Gaal was frustrated that the attacking duo regularly failed to win the second ball in midfield.
This is the reason, Van Gaal explained in his post-match press conference, that he is forced to find a place in his team for Marouane Fellaini, who played his part in Manchester United's stoppage-time equaliser.
"With him (Fellaini) we have more power," Van Gaal was quoted as saying by the Express. "With Adnan and Di Maria, we have more creative players. The second ball you cannot always win with these players.
"But you have to win (the ball), otherwise I have to line-up always (with) players like Fellaini."

De Gea in contract negotiations with United
Meanwhile, super-agent Jorge Mendes has confirmed that his client David de Gea is in negotiations with Manchester United regarding a new contract.
Mendes denied that De Gea has struck a deal to join Real Madrid, and hinted that the world-class goalkeeper will sign a contract extension with the 20-time English champions.
The Spain international has less than 18 months left to run on his current deal and Manchester United supporters are desperate to hear confirmation that his contract has been extended beyond 2016.
Radja Nainggolan wants Old Trafford move
And finally, AS Roma's tenacious midfield enforcer Radja Nainggolan would rather join Manchester United over Liverpool this summer, according to the Daily Star.
It's understood that the Red Devils are lining up a £30 million bid for the 26-year-old Belgium international, who is regarded by United chiefs as the ideal alternative for Radja Nainggolan's injury-prone teammate Kevin Strootman and fellow Serie A star Arturo Vidal.
Nainggolan has been in superb form for Roma this season, scoring three goals in 20 Serie A appearances since joining the Italian giants from Cagliari last summer.
