WWE: Diamond Dallas Page released from ICU but surgery planned for week's end

After revealing this weekend that he had been admitted to hospital at the end of last week with what doctors discovered to be Subglottic Tracheitis, Diamond Dallas Page has once again updated the WWE Universe on his health.

Health update

The wrestling legend, who only a couple of weeks ago was in the ring as a surprise entrant to Royal Rumble, expressed his heartfelt gratitude and thanks to those who had offered their support in recent days before confirming that he had been released from hospital.

DDP did though note that he would be returning at the end of this week - likely Thursday or Friday - to have throat surgery.

After reflecting on recent events, using the classic move 'It's a Wonderful Life' to find similarities to his own position, Diamond Dallas Page ended an emotional message to his fans with some positive news:

"So Doc does his tests on me and he's like DAMN you're sounding GOOD and WOW you've really put the work in! You're still going to need the operation but you can get out of this IC Unit and GO HOME if you PROMISE not to talk or yell UNLESS YOU NEED TO!"

"Of course, I promised! I go back in to see the Dr. Carothers on Wednesday and most likely will have the operation on Thursday or Friday and get these nodules removed and whatever else has to be done once he gets in there.

"Again I just want to THANK YOU ALL for being so amazing! DDP."

Image updates

The veteran of WWE also included a couple of pictures, showing first what he had been through inside the hospital, then an image as he left the hospital with his fiancee...

Worrying illness

The issue, Subglottic Stenosis, that is currently inhibiting DDP is a narrowing of one of the airways and, if left untreated, can prove life threatening.

Fortunately for the popular wrestler it appears that it was spotted early enough to allow surgery to address the issue.

DDP is not yet clear of trouble but his most recent Facebook update certainly looks like he is progressing as he should be - if not ahead of schedule.
