Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo has admitted that Arsenal wanted to sign him way back in 2009.
In fact, as reported by the Express, the Galatasaray ace has revealed that he's interested in a move to the Premier League, insisting that he loves Chelsea and appreciates Liverpool because of their fans.
Melo, then, despite being 31-years-old, could yet head to England's elite division, but it remains to be seen as to whether the likes of Chelsea or Liverpool would be interested in his services.
The Galatasaray ace certainly thinks highly of himself, however, insisting that he's a warrior on the pitch and someone that English fans would appreciate.
Speaking to Sambafoot, he said: "I am a warrior, the English like that. I have been approached by English clubs when I played at Juve. I do not close the door.
"If an offer arrives and it is good for me and Galatasaray, why not?
"Arsenal wanted me to come in 2009 when I was at Fiorentina. Juve paid nearly 25 million euros (£18.5m) to pay my release clause and I signed there.
"I love Chelsea because I'm a big fan of Jose Mourinho. I appreciate Liverpool because they have great fans."
There's no doubt about it, these comments from Melo certainly make interesting reading for Chelsea and Liverpool fans, but it's unknown as to whether either club will look to bring him to England anytime soon.
At 31, Melo is certainly approaching the latter years of his career, but would no doubt do a job in the middle of the park for a couple of years yet. A tough tackler, Melo certainly provides great experience, but his best years may well be behind him.
Chelsea or Liverpool move?
Chelsea, of course, already have an array of talent in the midfield department, with the likes of Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas, Ramies and Co. all plying their trade at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool, however, are on the verge of losing captain Steven Gerrard, with the former England captain heading to LA Galaxy at the end of the campaign. By no means would Melo act as a Gerrard replacement, but he may well give Brendan Rodgers another option on Merseyside.
It's uncertain as to whether he will ever be handed his chance to shine in the Premier League.
