A number of Premier League clubs look set to swoop for Real Madrid ace Alvaro Arbeloa with the Spanish giants set to replace him with Porto star Danilo.
This has been reported by the Express, who have suggested that the English trio of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool could now swoop for the full-back in the upcoming summer transfer window.
There's no doubt about it, Arbeloa has endured a tricky time under Carlo Ancelotti at the Bernabeu this term, so it's not entirely surprising that he now looks set to leave the club sooner rather than later.
With Dani Carvajal proving a key man for the European champions, Arbeloa has failed to hold down a regular starting place at the club throughout the course of the campaign.
And now with Danilo potentially joining the ranks in Madrid, Arbeloa's days are seemingly numbered.
And it appears that, despite the player being 32-years-old, a number of clubs are interested in bringing him back to England's elite division.
Arbeloa, of course, previously worked under Jose Mourinho at the Bernabeu, and only recently admitted that he still keeps in touch with the Blues boss.
"With Mourinho a boundary was crossed and at times he got so close that he was like a friend or parent to us.
"He is enjoying himself now [at Chelsea] and I still talk to him, although I have a very good relationship with all my coaches, but I had good times with Mourinho.
"He protected us, stood up for us, and we thanked him for sticking his neck out and taking the bullets. 'Mourinhismo' is a way of being, of doing things, always putting yourself forward, defending your ideas to the death, being honest, upstanding."
Who needs him?
Perhaps, then, Mourinho will have an interest in Arbeloa, but a move to Stamford Bridge would surely prove unlikely with the likes of Cesar Azpilicuete, Filipe Luis and Branislav Ivanovic already starring at Stamford Bridge.
In truth, a move to Arsenal or Liverpool would suit him more, as his versatilely would make him quite the coup for either club. Able to play on the right of left hand side of defence, Arbeloa would no doubt improve either clubs in the defensive department.
