WWE: John Cena updates fans on eye injury ahead of Abu Dhabi run

Published 1 Comments

WWE are currently in Abu Dhabi on a week long tour that is designed to grow the brand into new territories and John Cena began the seven day trip with some positive news.

Injury update

Speaking in a press conference organized by the WWE themselves, Cena updated fans on the eye injury that has been causing him concern in recent days.

John Cena admitted that the scratched cornea - exacerbated in a confrontation with Rusev on this past Raw - has been causing him some issues, but promised reporters that it wouldn't mean pulling out of any appearances.

"The WWE is being extra cautious," explained Cena.

"A scratched cornea is basically like a scratch on the surface of your eye. I've had this injury multiple times. My vision is blurry, it did not effect my driving (around Yas Marina race track), I was not the one to get lapped over here."

The fact that Cena, who is due to get in the ring tonight for the Abu Dhabi tour opener, is still admitting to having blurred vision will be a worry for some WWE fans - and perhaps their medical staff too.

Clearly though the issue is not serious enough to force Cena onto the sidelines and his confident mood finally puts pay to those rumors which suggested his role in WWE's upcoming Fastlane PPV was in doubt.

In Cena's more immediate future he will take on Seth Rollins in the first of three straight nights of WWE action in UAE.

In nights two and three, the WWE Superstar teams up with Dean Ambrose to go up against Rusev and Luke Harper before ending the tour vying for the Intercontinental title against Bad News Barrett.

Rusev feud

Considering it was Rusev who inflicted the eye injury with a surprise attack on Monday night Raw, it will be interesting to see how Cena reacts when they come face to face on Friday night.

With the two feuding at present with a view to a match at WrestleMania XXXI the injury development certainly spices things up in the run up to April.

What do you think WWE fans? Who will come out on top in the Rusev vs Cena feud, and will it make a good WrestleMania match? Let us know in the comments section below...
