Jose Mourinho has responded to a young Aston Villa fan who pleaded with the Chelsea boss to leave his post in order to become the Midlands club's next manager.
Jude Branson, aged six from Selly Oak in Birmingham, sent a letter to the Portuguese tactician as well as making a video attempting to persuade ‘the Special One’ to move to Villa Park.
The youngster's message read: “Dear Mr Mourinho, My name is Jude. I am 6 years old and I support Aston Villa. You are my favourite manager. Please could you manage Villa and bring Costa with you? We need help. Thank you Jude Branson.”
A touch of class
Mourinho responded by sending a signed photo to Jude - not quite what he wanted but nonetheless he was chuffed with getting a response from the Blues head coach.
“Jude had a nice surprise today when he came back home from school to find that Jose had sent him a signed picture addressed to himself," said the youngster's dad, Phil.
Villa sacked Paul Lambert last night after the Midlands club dropped into the bottom three following a shocking 2-0 defeat at Hull in which ‘Lambert Out’ banners were shown at the game.
"The only thing he wanted from his letter was Mourinho to take over at Villa,” said Jude’s dad.
Jude will be disappointed that his favourite manager will not be at his favourite club but the picture softens the blow. Tim Sherwood, Glenn Hoddle and Jurgen Klinsmann are the frontrunners for the managerial vacancy at Villa Park.
"It'll be framed and put on his bedroom wall. It's good to know that his letter was read and maybe even planted the seed in his head which will lead him to the Villa job one day. This is an excellent way to end a brilliant few days for Jude,” added Phil.
