Aaron Hernandez's fiance might not testify after all

In most NFL fans minds right now, Aaron Hernandez is pretty much guilty. We have all read something about the former New England Patriots star tight end in the last couple of years which points to his murder guilt.

But the truth is that he's innocent until proven guilty and is currently on trial trying to plead his innocence.

While the majority might think he doesn't stand a chance of escaping punishment for the alleged killing of Odin Lloyd, Hernandez still aims to fight his case in court. However, this week brought about a severe hurdle for his plan when it was revealed that his fiance, Shayanna Jenkins, was given immunity on Wednesday, meaning she could testify.

But good news came on Thursday for Hernandez's defense team when Jenkins turned up to court and was seen smiling and giggling in the direction of Hernandez, suggesting that she doesn't plan to sell him down the river.

"If Jenkins testifies that Hernandez told her to get rid of the gun, Hernandez’s attorneys would need to dramatically revise their legal strategy," Michael McCann of SI reported. "They are likely breathing a sigh of relief to see Jenkins back in court and smiling in the direction of Hernandez."

Keeping Jenkins on side during the trial is key to Hernandez's defense, with prosecutors firmly feeling that she helped the former tight end get rid of the weapon that killed Odin Lloyd.

"Prosecutors believe that Hernandez ordered Jenkins to hide or destroy the .45-caliber Glock pistol allegedly used to kill Odin Lloyd," McCann added.

Though Jenkins is not forced to testify it's highly likely that she will. If she doesn't, she could face jail time, but for Hernandez's sake it looks like she will not say anything to incriminate the shamed star should she testify.
