Galatasaray president Duygun Yarsuvat has insisted that Dutchman Wesley Sneijder would have only joined Chelsea this past summer, reports the Express.
In fact, Yarsuvat has admitted that the Stamford Bridge outfit made a move for the playmaker at the start of the season, however a move failed to materialise.
It appears, then, that the Dutchman was interested in a move to English soil, before opting to stay in Turkey.
Premier League interest
Sneijder, who has starred for some of the best clubs in Europe throughout his career, has also been tracked by Manchester United for some time now.
Sneijder, of course, starred under the now Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal at this past summer's World Cup, but it appears that it was only Chelsea who made a move a move for his services.
The Galatasaray president told GS TV: "Chelsea made an offer for Wesley Sneijder at the start of the season.
"He could have been beside Jose Mourinho, that is the only club he would have joined. But he's happy at Galatasaray."
Despite missing out on Sneijder, the Blues invested heavily last summer, as Mourinho recruited the likes of Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and Co.
And, there's no doubt about it, his new signings have proved key for the club this term, with the Blues currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table.
The likes of Fabregas and Co. will currently be gearing up for the club's huge clash with French moneybags Paris Saint-Germain as the Champions League returns. The Blues will be hoping to overcome Laurent Blanc's side once again after knocking them out of Europe's elite competition last season.
It's for the best
Perhaps, though, missing out on Sneijder was a blessing in disguise for Mourinho and Co. at the Bridge. Despite being 30-years of age, the Dutchman still has a lot to offer, but the Blues already possess a number of top class forward players.
With the likes of Oscar, Eden Hazard and Co. flourishing under the guidance of the Portuguese tactician, it certainly seems unlikely that Mourinho will make another swoop for Sneijder anytime soon. They certainly don't need him.
